North Carolina native and creator of “Dawson’s Creek,” Kevin Williamson, is bringing his storytelling back home with a new series ‘The Waterfront’ on Netflix.
The streaming giant Netflix has given the green light to Williamson’s family drama, “The Waterfront.” Inspired by real events, the show follows the struggles of the Buckley family as they fight to save their fishing business in North Carolina.
While “Dawson’s Creek” was set in a fictional Massachusetts town, it was actually filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, where Williamson has roots. He hails from New Bern, North Carolina, and grew up in a fishing family.
Netflix has not revealed any information on it’s production status however we can expect it’s filming to begin shortly and release date to be expected in Mid 2025.
Director, Writer and Cast members of The Waterfront?
Williamson isn’t just lending his name to “The Waterfront”; he’s deeply involved as a writer and executive producer. He’s joined by Ben Fast from his Outerbanks Entertainment, who also serves as an executive producer.
We do not have any information yet on the cast details for The Waterfront but will keep you updated as soon we get any update from Netflix on this.
This series is part of Williamson’s larger deal with Universal Television, which includes other projects like a remake of “Rear Window” for Peacock, “The It Girl” based on Ruth Ware’s book, and “The Game,” inspired by the David Fincher film.
“The Waterfront” was unveiled during Netflix’s first-ever Upfront event in New York, promising viewers a compelling story straight from the heart of North Carolina. At the event, Netflix also announced a lineup of exciting projects, including “Happy Gilmore 2,” a sequel to the classic comedy, a new film by Kathryn Bigelow, a drama series led by Tim McGraw, and the renewal of “3 Body Problem.“
