Almost 30 years ago, we met Happy Gilmore. He was a hero with a powerful slap shot who won the Tour Championship in 1996. Now, he is back! Adam Sandler is returning to play again in Happy Gilmore 2

Fans of Adam Sandler have waited a long time for this sequel. Happy Gilmore characters have appeared in other movies like Jack and Jill, Little Nicky, and Hubie Halloween. But now, Happy Gilmore himself is coming back. Confirmed by Adam Sandler himself in an interview on Dan Patrick Show on Apr 3rd, 2024.

In the first movie, Happy Gilmore had a tough time. He was a failed hockey player who tried golf to help his grandmother. She owed a lot of money to the IRS. Happy needed to win golf tournaments to save her house. He had a strange way of playing golf, but he was very good.

Happy made friends like Chubbs Petersen, played by Carl Weathers, and his caddy, played by Allen Covert. He also made enemies like Shooter McGavin, played by Christopher McDonald, and even had a fight with Bob Barker from The Price Is Right. Despite all the challenges, Happy won the championship, saved his grandmother’s house, and went home happy.

Who is behind the production of Happy Gilmore 2?

Netflix officially confirmed the Happy Gilmore sequel on May 15, 2024. They announced this at their Netflix Upfront event, along with other big news. The movie will be produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison production company. This company has a big deal with Netflix and has already made many projects like Spaceman and Hustle.

Happy Gilmore 2 is still in early development, so there is no release date yet. If production starts this year, the movie might come out in late 2025 or 2026.
