Despite getting poor reviews from the critics at the beginning of this 1994 live-action cartoon series, This film earned more than $340 million at the box office. Audiences appreciated the work of John Goodman Rosie O’Donnell and other cast members.
This film gave a reason for summer audiences to visit the theaters at least once. This film highlighted the big stars of that time including Rick Moranis, Elizabeth Perkins, Halle Berry, Kyle MacLachlan and Elizabeth Taylor.

John Goodman as Fred Flintstone
In an interaction with People Magazine after the premiere of The Flintstones in 1994, John Goodman said with a smile on his face “I must admit that I wasn’t looking good in the outfit offered to me for that role with knobby knees and brown suede. It wasn’t my colour at all. In response to that, People replied: You captured the soul of the cartoon character Fred very well.

Elizabeth Perkins was already a busy actress in movies when she played Wilma Flintstone, Fred’s wife, in “The Flintstones” movie. She wore the famous white dress and stone necklace.
In 2019, on a TV show called “Watch What Happens Live,” Perkins talked about her time on set. She shared a story about the day when Elizabeth Taylor brought her friend Michael Jackson to visit. Perkins said, “I took a picture with both of them, and I was really excited. It was like a fan freakout.”
After “The Flintstones,” Perkins had a successful TV career. She got nominated for Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Awards for her role in “Weeds.” She also had great roles in shows like “This Is Us,” “Barry,” “The Afterparty,” and “Minx.”

Rosie O'Donnell as Betty Rubble
Rosie O’Donnell told PEOPLE magazine her own story about meeting Elizabeth Taylor in 1994.
“I wanted to start a conversation,” she said about meeting the famous actress on set, “so I went up to Liz and complimented her perfume.” The next day, a big box of Elizabeth Taylor perfumes arrived at O’Donnell’s trailer. “She’s really nice,” O’Donnell added.
Before playing Betty Rubble in “The Flintstones” movie, Rosie O’Donnell was already famous. She had just starred in a popular movie called “A League of Their Own” in 1992 and was well-known in the comedy world. After “The Flintstones,” she went straight to Broadway to perform in “Grease.” She has gone back to Broadway several times since then.
Two years after the movie, she started her own daytime talk show called “The Rosie O’Donnell Show,” which ran until 2002 and won 11 Daytime Emmy Awards. She also appeared on a TV show called “The View” in 2006, and she has been in many other TV shows like “The Fosters,” “Empire,” “Mom,” “SMILF,” and “Russian Doll.” Next, she’s going to be on a show called “And Just Like That …” in season 3.

Rick Moranis as Barney Rubble
Before playing Barney Rubble in “The Flintstones,” Rick Moranis was already famous in comedy and movies. Now 71 years old, Moranis has made a few small appearances in recent years. He was supposed to be in a reboot of “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” in the 2020s, but it didn’t happen.

Kyle MacLachlan as Cliff Vandercave
Before playing Cliff Vandercave in “The Flintstones,” Kyle MacLachlan became famous in the 1980s with shows like “Twin Peaks” and movies like “Dune.”
“I had the chance to make him up from scratch, which was fun,” MacLachlan said at the time. He enjoyed watching his co-stars bring the cartoon characters to life. “They did an amazing job,” he added.
After “The Flintstones,” MacLachlan kept busy with more movies and TV shows. He won a Golden Globe and got nominated for a SAG Award for his role in “Desperate Housewives.” He also played Charlotte’s first husband on “Sex and the City” and joined the 2017 reboot of “Twin Peaks.”

Now 65 years old, MacLachlan is married to publicist Desiree Gruber, and they have one son named Callum.
Halle Berry as Miss Stone
Halle Berry was already famous from shows like “Living Dolls” and “Knots Landing” when she played Miss Stone, Cliff Vandercave’s secretary, in “The Flintstones.”
In 2022, Berry looked back on her character in a tweet. “People asked, ‘Why would you want to be in a movie based on a cartoon?’ ” Berry wrote. “Now, 28 years later, seeing how much you all love this character is amazing. Miss Stone may wear brown, but she’s still an inspiration.”
Since then, Berry has kept busy. She became the first Black woman to win the Best Actress Oscar for “Monster’s Ball” in 2002. She’s also been praised for her roles in “Their Eyes Were Watching God” and “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge,” and she’s been in big movies like the “X-Men” and James Bond films.

Now 57 years old, Berry has two children: Nahla, with her ex Gabriel Aubry, and Maceo-Robert, with her ex Olivier Martinez. She’s currently dating musician Van Hunt.
