As we all know, this past weekend, Netflix premiered “Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver” to much anticipation. However, despite landing at the top of the streaming giant’s most-watched movies list for the week, the latest installment in Zack Snyder’s space epic has faced harsh criticism from both critics and fans alike. But before we move to check facts and it’s future series. Let’s see what Zach and Sofia Boutella said about Rebel Moon Part 3 upcoming series.

in an interview with Forbes, Zach Snyder Said “

“We have definitely been working on a Part Three, as far as the story goes. We definitely know where we’re all headed – we’ve known that for quite a while, to be honest. So yeah, I’m excited to make some more Rebel Moon movies – that would be fun.”

and similarly Sofia Boutell said in an interview with Collider

“I don’t know. I’m not sure about that. But what I can tell you is that I love working with Zack, and I love my cast mates so much. I had an amazing experience on this film. So I’ll go back to it anytime.”

and Now let’s look at the other facts which will surprise you. With a budget reportedly around $166 million for the first two parts combined, the series is a significant investment for Netflix. Yet, the lukewarm reception and just-okay viewership of “Rebel Moon” raise doubts about the future of the franchise.

The original “Rebel Moon” failed to break into Netflix’s Top 10 list of all-time most-watched movies, with Zack Snyder himself stating it garnered between 80 and 90 million views. As a sequel to an already poorly received first installment, “Part 2” is expected to perform even worse.

Comparing the critical and audience reception of “Rebel Moon” to Netflix’s top-performing originals reveals a stark contrast. While hits like “Red Notice” and “The Gray Man” managed to thrive despite mixed reviews, “Rebel Moon” lags far behind with dismal scores of 21% from critics and 57% from audiences for “Part 1,” and a mere 17% from critics and 50% from audiences for “Part 2.”

Typically, Netflix prioritizes viewership over prestige, but even they have their limits. The combination of high production costs and poor reception makes it unlikely for “Rebel Moon” to receive further investment, especially with other successful projects in the pipeline.

Despite the upcoming R-rated cuts of “Part 1” and “Part 2,” it’s doubtful they will significantly improve the franchise’s prospects. Barring a miraculous turnaround, the future of “Rebel Moon” on Netflix appears uncertain at best.

In conclusion, while the possibility of a third installment remains, the odds of “Rebel Moon Part 3” making its way to Netflix seem slim given the current trajectory of the series.
