Netflix’s Man on Fire Finds Billie Boullet as Female Lead

Netflix has some exciting news! In early 2023, the streaming giant revealed plans to adapt the first two books by A.J. Quinell into a thrilling new series called “Man on Fire.” 

This series promises to be a must-watch, with Kyle Killen, known for his work on “Fear Street,” writing and producing the eight-episode show. Steven Caple Jr., famous for directing “Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts” and “Creed II,” will direct the first two episodes.

The series will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, an Emmy-winning actor known for his role in “Watchmen,” as John Creasy. Billie Boullet, who starred in “World-Breaker,” will join him. Carmen Cuba, a talented casting director, is in charge of selecting the cast.

Plot of Man on Fire

“Man on Fire” is based on A.J. Quinell’s book series. It tells the story of John Creasy, a former Special Forces soldier. Creasy is a broken man battling PTSD and personal demons. 

He takes on a mission to avenge his friend’s death and protect his friend’s daughter, Poe Rayburn. Poe is a teenager who witnesses a tragic event and must rely on John for protection. Together, they navigate danger and seek justice.

Production Details

The series is produced by Chernin Entertainment and New Regency Productions. Filming will take place in Mexico City and Brazil, starting in late July 2024 and running through March 2025. This means we might see the series released in 2025 or 2026. 

Familiar Faces Behind the Scenes

Kyle Killen, who worked on the “Fear Street” trilogy and the “Halo” TV adaptation, is the showrunner. He will also serve as an executive producer alongside Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Bill McGoldrick, and Juan Alfonso. Steven Caple Jr. will direct the first two episodes and executive produce the series.
