Helping Her Own Children

Now, Molly Ringwald is a mom to three kids: Mathilda, who is 20 years old, and 14-year-old twins, Adele and Roman. She tries to use her experiences to help her children. Her oldest daughter wants to be an actress too, even though Molly tried to convince her to choose a different career. Molly’s parents didn’t know anything about show business, so she wants to make sure her kids are more prepared.

Looking Back at Her Movies

Molly Ringwald has also thought a lot about the movies she made in the 1980s. She watched some of them again in 2018 and noticed that some parts of the movies were not appropriate. For example, in “The Breakfast Club,” her character was harassed by another character, which she didn’t realize was wrong at the time.

She wrote in an essay that looking back, she can see how some things in those movies were not okay, even though they seemed normal back then. She feels differently about the movies now and believes that some of the things that were acceptable in the past should never have been okay. Molly wants to make it clear that she is grateful for the opportunities she had, but she also sees the problems in those old movies.
